Amnesty International

Meeting Times: Posters will be up around school before each meeting.
Purpose: An independent worldview organization formed by a grassroots movement. It is not affiliated with any government, political persuasion, economic interest, ideology or religious creed. Amnesty International's purpose is to rid the world of the death penalty, abolish political killings and disappearances, as well as protect, support, and free people known as the Prisoners of Conscience (POC) and help political prisoners who are jailed due to their political motivation. The organization focuses its beliefs around the Universal Declaration of Human Rights established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948.

Computer Arts Club

Meeting Times: Tuesdays in Room 121
Purpose: This club provides an opportunity for students to use Macintosh computers as a
tool for artistic expression. We work on anything from video and animation, to digital
photography, music and of course the ever-popular PhotoBooth. We will also be designing
art work to decorate the school this year, and creating an online gallery for exhibiting
our creations. Creativity and fun are mandatory.

Dance Club

Purpose: To bring dance experience to Wilton High School and the community at large. This

Students will also be involved in community service projects; such as organizing
professional dance performances.

French National Honor Society

Meeting Times: All morning meetings start at 7:30a.m.
All afternoon meetings start at 3:00p.m. October 5th (PM), November 9th (AM), December 7th (PM),
January 11th (AM), February 8th (PM), March 8th (AM), April 12th (PM), May 17th (AM), June 7th (PM)
Purpose: From the FHS Constitution: The aim of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of the French language,
to promote high standards of scholarship, to reward scholastic achievements,
to create enthusiasm for and an understanding of francophone culture, to promote and perpetuate international friendship,
and to reward efforts toward furthering solidarity in the French speaking world.
Joining: Students who meet the academic criteria will be
invited to apply for membership. Interviews will be conducted after the application has been completed. New members are accepted once a year.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA)

Purpose: The Gay-Straight Alliance is a community of students dedicated to the promotion of tolerance in Wilton High School. Our mission is to inform members and the student body of issues and events affecting the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight ally youth. Throughout the year, we hope to work in coalition with the administration and other WHS clubs to create a safer, more accepting environment in our school.

Purpose: Interact Club is a high school service organization sponsored by the Wilton Rotary Club. Members (Interactors) develop local and international service projects. Interact's name is derived from the words "International" and "Action." Our projects this year include raising money to support Kick for Nick, and the American Cancer Society, as well as sponsoring a child in Haiti through World Vision. The Club meets every week on Tuesday, either before or after school.

Literary Magazine

Meeting Times: Wednesdays at 3:00 pm in room 119A
Purpose: Students in this organization prepare the school literary magazine each year. Poems, magazine short stories, photos, and drawings are collected from students and prepared for publication. The magazine is published in the spring of each year.
Joining: Anyone can submit work to boxes that will be placed around the school. Anyone wishing to be on the staff that selects the work to be published can show up at the meetings. Posters will be placed around school before the first meeting.

Little Theater Company-Drama Club

Mock Trial Club

Meeting Times: The Club meets every Monday Nite at the High School beginning in November once the State releases the Case and Materials. We generally meet for 1 hour, but often get together an extra nite at the library or my home as competiton dates approach.
Purpose: Teach the fundamentals of trial practice thru the use of Ct. issued Mock Trial Case and Materials. 2. Learn the basic rules of Evidence necessary to complete a trial from Opening Statement thru Summation. 3. Understand and practice the skills necessary to become an effective trial witness 4. Exchange ideas regarding the litigation packet which has, in prior years involved topical issues like Cyber Stalking and The Scope of Police Authority and Search and Seizure.
Joining: The Club is always looking for motivated students to participate. Mock Trial represents a great way to put into practice your public speaking skills, have some fun and learn a little law. We have competed for the last three years in the Yale Mock Trial Invitational (usually around January) as well as the Ct Mock Trial Regional and State Tourney (some time in late Feb or early March).

Model United Nations

Purpose: The Model United Nations Club at WHS has been in existence since 2003. The club
conducts meetings using the exact format of the United Nations itself. World Issues are
brought up, debated and resolutions are drafted and passed or rejected.
Members are asked to research topics(please use the WHS Library resources) that are up
for discussion between meetings.

Mountain Biking Club

Purpose: The goal of the mountain bike club is to have fun, safe rides together, explore parks in the area, improve riding skills, enhance physical endurance and improve trails with the Ecology Club.

Purpose:Why not put a little excitement into your life? Join the Mountaineering Club and climb a mountain! This club practices, explores, and develops the techniques required to rock climb properly. Several one day excursions are planned throughout the year. Open to all students. All climbing is supervised by licensed and experienced mountain guides.
Joining: Show up any time any week. All students are welcome to join. Come when you can. Climb when you can.

Operation Smile Club

Purpose: Our purpose is to raise money to pay for surgery to correct clef lip and palates. Through our Operation Club, I hope to show the students

Purpose: Students in Politics is a non-partisan, student-run model congress. The goal of the club is to allow students to simulate the United States Congress. Students legislate laws and debate hot button issues at our bi-weekly meetings
